Success with Q10 for Migraines, moving on to D-Mannose

Posted on Nov 18th, 2007 by Melissa : constant student Melissa
Exciting title for a blog isn't it?  But it's true.  Goodness, I haven't been here in almost a year and a half!  Where have I been?  What have I been doing?  Well, often working too much trying to make ends meet (though there is a continual lesson there about my default setting of beng a workaholic, and continued very ingrained beliefs that I'm working to release about that but finding a big challenge), but also off enjoying myself too.

There are so many healers and seekers here that I want to share about Q10 for migraines.  Last year at this time I read about it in "More" magazine (I believe) that it could help diminish migraine pain and longevity for migraine sufferers.  So I gave it a go, and within a month I was able to drop from a daily (sometimes twice daily) does of the heavy duty migraine drug  Amerge to  over the couner Exedrin Migraine.  Now taking that daily is no great thing either, I know this, however, I know I'm still in a migrain medication loop, but this past September I was able to go five and a half days without any migraine medication - FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER SEVEN YEARS.    Yes, I had been on prescription pain medication for over seven years.

I have what appears to be a very classic case of chronic fatigue syndrome, but a mild enough version that allows me to work.  The fatigue is challenging but not nearly as challenging as all of the little myriad  of chronic painful conditions that aren't life threatening but a pain in the butt.  Like chronic bladder pain.  Recently I bought the book "From Fatigued to Fantastic" by Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, M.D.  and he is suggesting a suppliment called D-Mannose for bladder pain as a better treatment than cranberry.  After a couple years of taking cranberry suppliments and drinking cranberry juice and still needing to take a uti pain killer almost daily (unless I'm off my feet almost 100%) I'm ready for something new.  I should receive the suppliment by Tuesday and it's suppose to work pretty quickly.  I'll report back more asap.

I'm also going to try the suppliment Ribose for energy and I'll share my thoughts.  I'm very careful to only add one suppliment at a time to my regiment (over 10 a day now) since I often have weird adverse side affects (another side affect of cfs) but I'm quite optimistic about the d-mannose as I've read up on it online and it seems to be pretty safe and reputable.
